This Enlightenment epplet was written so I could monitor the signal quality of my WaveLAN Gold 802.11 wireless networking card. Since my initial exposure to these devices at LISA 99, I became addicted to them, and decided to buy one to use with my Vaio 505GX [1, 2] and an Apple AirPort Base Station.
The only drawback to these setups is the iffy quality of the wireless signal near the edge of the coverage area, or in certain environments. The setup at LISA 99 was particularly iffy, so I ended up having to stream the contents of /proc/net/wireless every n seconds so I could have some idea of where to position the notebook for a decent signal.
This epplet allows you to quickly and easily monitor the cards signal quality levels and position yourself in a better location, or keep you from wandering out of range.
